GRADUATE STUDENT SENATE MEETING NOTES 22OCT2009

I). Welcome and Picnic Reminder (Rebekah)
- Started with introductions around the room (Name and Department)
- Picnic reminder: Saturday 24OCT2009 from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm

II). Travel Grant Applications (Sarah)
- Application is up on website
- A copy was passed out
- If questions email Sarah
- Is it a good idea to reimburse or give money back in advance? (TCU policy is to reimburse)

III). Library Cooperation
- Library is looking at expansion
- Pro graduate student
- Brown Bag will be with Library Dean for library feedback
- Archives Day in library
- as people to send in questions and topics

IV). Graduate Student Assistantship Survey/Grad Forum (April Patrick)
- Dr. Melhart survey
- Graduate assistant duties across campus
- Going to associate Deans of each college with graduate students
- Once they get the approval from the Deans they survey will go to everyone
- Survey going to Division of Graduate Studies in each program
- Ask perspective of them on graduate assistants
- Graduate Forum

V). Childcare for Graduate Students
- Talked to faculty
- Possibility with Campfire USA
- Talk with Human Resources person
- Location?
- continue with plan to stipend childcare
- Form, deadline, etc.

- Short term and long term strategy
- send out survey
- Divide GSS account into travel grants and child care is a possibility

- Parking
- Buying a faculty staff permit for graduate students who have labs for Psychology?
